FINAL PROJECT, 2016 MAKE IT POP

Code-based design process: Using a genetic algorithm to create variations using the same set of principles, combined with the user's own specific requirements and needs.

The code allows the user to pick anchor points, determine the total s.q.m of the light-weight building, decide on the indoor-outdoor ratio and more.

This alternative design method uses a simple structural idea, to create three different built types.

All of the code iteration results share the same building blocks - triangular stips of load-bearing elements, but use a different set of connecting joints that create the different types.

The genetic aspects of the code allow it to search for the best options for the given conditions. Each result is presented with a rating that reveals its level of compatibility.

There are endless possible results, when changing any of the given conditions can direct the design in new paths. While the architect is behind the mechanism, the freedom of choice is given to the user.

TYPE C - BUILDING VARIATIONS

TYPE A  - Using a linear connecting technique for the load-bearing triangular elements, with a restricted set of joints, allowing only 90-degree angles.

TYPE A is designed to fit tight urban spaces, usually found in Tel Aviv in under-developped parts of the city.

TYPE B - Using a diagonal connecting technique, and 90-degree joint angles.

TYPE B is designed to fit slightly bigger urban spaces, as found above parking lots, while keeping the ground free to maintain its original uses.

TYPE C - Using a liniar connecting technique, but allowing more freedom when using a range of optional joint angels - 30°, 45°, 60° and 90°.

TYPE C is designed for open building platforms - outdoor fairs, performance stages, social gatheirngs and more.
